Porcelain Layered to Zirconia

Wanting to create life-like restorations? Then choose the PFZ (porcelain fused to zirconia) for crowns and bridges in the anterior esthetic zone. Combine the strength of zirconia with the esthetics of layered porcelain by one of our talented technicians. Our PFZ includes a lingual full-contour design for extra strength in functional areas.

At Peterson Dental Laboratory, all anterior units will be PFZs unless specified on the prescription.

Preparation Instructions

  • Chamfer or shoulder margin
  • Minimal 1mm marginal reduction
  • 1.5-2mm occlusal reduction (less than 1.5mm dramatically increases ceramic fracture)
  • NO knife edge margin
  • NO sharp angles

What to send to the laboratory

  • Impression and models
  • Bite registration
  • Shade
  • Photos (optional)
  • Kois Fox Plane (optional)

Cementation

  • Cement with resin-reinforced glass ionomer cements, zinc phosphate cements, dual-cure resin cements
  • Dual cure cements may require increased cement spacer
  • DO NOT cement with plain glass ionomer cements
  • Ensure inside of crown clean with Ivoclean

Indications

  • Anterior crowns or highly esthetic Patients
  • Bridges up to 14 units
  • Implant restorations and bridges

Contra-Indications

  • Posterior with minimal occlusal clearance
  • Less than 1mm of occlusal clearance
